Pregnancy is a wonderful time in a woman's life, but it can be tough. Yoga gently helps women to stretch and relax during their pregnancy and prepares them for labour and beyond. Yoga can help improve both physical and mental well-being during this special time. It is also a great opportunity to meet fellow pregnant women and share experiences.
A typical class will include a range of poses and sequences to help flexibility and strength, together with breathing techniques designed to be beneficial during pregnancy and helpful in labour. Classes will end with a relaxation, allowing women time to be quiet and connect with their growing baby.
Women can begin pregnancy yoga classes at any stage of their pregnancy from 12 weeks onwards. The classes are equally suitable for someone who’s not done any yoga before, or for those who are more experienced. Amy is an experienced pregnancy yoga teacher and is used to working with women who may be experiencing problems such as pelvic girdle pain, or symphysis pubis dysfunction (SPD). Having had two children of her own she fully understands the changes that pregnancy can have on a woman's body.
