I am a fully qualified British Wheel of Yoga (BWY) teacher and have been teaching yoga for over 3 years. I began practising yoga after moving to Cornwall from Bristol in 2004. I initially began yoga in order to develop strength and flexibility to improve my surfing (and keep up with my husband in the water!), but I soon realised that regular practice leads to so many other positive benefits and yoga soon became my passion over surfing. In 2007 I embarked on a 10 month BWY foundation course to further my understanding of yoga and this course sparked a real passion to teach and share the benefits of yoga with others. Following my foundation course I started the teaching diploma in September 2008 with.
I have also taught music at secondary education level for the past 12 years and I am involved in training trainee music teachers. Teaching yoga seemed a logical progression, combing my two passions teaching and yoga. I have experience of teaching all ages from primary, secondary to adult teacher training, I understand the qualities and skills of a good teacher, and have transferred these skills into my yoga teaching.
I love yoga and I love studying different schools and types of yoga and learning from many different teachers and styles as possible. I have studied styles that include Anusara, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Sivananda, Scaravelli and Dynamic yoga. I aim to integrate elements of these styles into my teaching to create flowing, fun and energetic classes, that are accessible to all levels. The British Wheel actively encourages teachers to experience different types of yoga and this allows me to offer my students different alternatives enabling them to be comfy and safe during their asana practice.
I feel very privileged to be a yoga teacher, yoga has literally transformed my life and I have immense enthusiasm to share this with others.
